Bundaberg
Branch of the RAAF Association was formed in 1987 and comprises a
membership of around 40 from all age groups. In 1988 the Branch undertook
a project to recognize ‘Hinkler Airport’ Bundaberg for its WWII role
as RAAF Station Bundaberg. This project was later enhanced by the
Bundaberg City Council and the airport now has a large sign on its entry
road, a plaque displaying a map of the former air base and a propeller
commemorative memorial at the terminal.
Members of the Branch meet
at various venues, generally on the second Sunday of the month at noon. The
meeting is attended by family and a BYO barbecue follows at the close of
the meeting. The Branch welcomes visitors to these social meetings.
