The Toowoomba Branch, RAAFA received it’s Charter in 1966 .
The Branch meets at 9.30 am on the first Monday of each month in the Toowoomba RSL Club’s Kokoda Room. A special Commemoration Service is organised by the Branch for 2nd Sunday in September; this service attracts attendance from neighbouring Branches. Three Luncheons are held during the year and the Branch would welcome visitors joining them for these occasions. The Branch also plans at least one bus trip each year.
Toowoomba Branch has entered into a number of projects with DVA using grants from the Joint Ventures Scheme. The most recent is “Break Down the Deafness Barriers For A Better Quality Of Life”. This project which involves volunteer specialist resource people conducting workshops aims to address the issues concerning, and frustrations of adults with an acquired hearing loss. The long-term goal is to minimize the effects of deafness barriers that may make it difficult for these people to enjoy a more active ageing.
