Phil Rowles

Mr P Rowles
Phil served in the RAAF for six years from 1959 to 1965. He worked in a variety of clerical positions during a posting in No 5 Airfield Construction Squadron and two postings in No 1 Stores Depot.
Between 1965 and 1995, Phil was involved in the wholesale clothing business as a representative agent and operating his own business in Western Australia. From 1995 until semi-retirement he was involved in recycling, mainly computer material and equipment for export.
Phil has enjoyed extensive interests in many sporting fields including hockey, rugby and sailing, and has been the Principal Starting Officer in state, national and international sailing regattas. He is a past member of both the Perth Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Australian Institute of Management.
Phil’s involvement with RAAFA began with the formation of the Airfield Construction Squadrons Branch in Mandurah, and he was Branch President for three years. He joined Division Council in 2003 and then served as Vice President 2004-2006. Phil assumed the appointment of State President in October 2006. |

Ken Thornton

Mr K Thornton
Ken is an engineer who worked in the manufacturing industry in Western Australia. His executive appointments included Tool Development Engineer and Deputy Chief Engineer with Pope Engineering (WA) Pty Ltd, Production Engineer with Chamberlain John Deere Pty Ltd, and Divisional General Manager with Bristile Ltd.
He served in the Royal Air Force as a Navigator Bomb Aimer 1943–1946. Ken has been active within the Royal Australian Air Force Association, serving as a member of the AFA Club Committee at Bull Creek, a member and then chairman of the Estate Residents’ Committee, Village Shop Supervisor and as a volunteer in the Aviation Heritage Museum.
In the broader community he was a charter member and president of Northbridge Rotary Club and also chairman and director of the Board of Nedlands Park Hall Company. Ken and his wife Peggy reside on the Air Force Memorial Estate at Bull Creek. |

Jim Carruthers

Mr J Carruthers
Jim served in the Royal Air Force for 24 years, with postings in England, Scotland, Egypt, German, Maldive Islands, Singapore and Cyprus.
Jim joined the RAAF Association in 1975 as a member of the Victoria Park Branch and served as President of that branch 1976-1980. He transferred to the Australia Pacific Branch in 1982 and was Branch Secretary until 2001.
Jim served on the Division Committee 1976-1983 and 1989-1994, and on the State Executive 1978-1983. He was elected to Division Council in 2000 and appointed State Secretary in 2005. He has been a member of several Standing Committees of Division Council and was awarded Life Membership of the RAAF Association in 1998. |

Anthony Gerard Warner

A.G. (Gerry) Warner, AM, LVO, BSc (Hons), Dip Mil Stud, FAICD
Gerry assumed the appointment of Chief Executive Officer of RAAFA (WA Div) Inc. in August 2005. He graduated from the Royal Military College in 1971 and was allotted to the Royal Australian Artillery. His military career included extensive command experience, tours on the personal staff of Governors-General, pivotal operations and personnel staff appointments, and UN peacekeeping on the Golan Heights and in Southern Lebanon. He was the senior Defence representative in WA in 1996-97 and in his final posting was Chief of Staff Land Headquarters in Sydney during a period of intense operational tempo including support to the Olympic Games.
After separation from the Army and settling in his home state, Brigadier Warner was appointed to the independent committee convened by the Board of Western Power to report on the power supply crisis of February 2004. Since then he has served as a Sessional Senior Member of the State Administrative Tribunal, a Member of the Mental Health Review Board and a Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. In 2006 he was appointed a Trustee of the Government of Western Australia Anzac Day Trust. In addition to the Diploma of Military Studies (Applied Science) gained from Duntroon, Gerry holds a BSc (Hons) from UNSW, is a graduate of Australian Army Command and Staff College, completed US Army War College in Pennsylvania in 1993-94 as an International Fellow, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. |

Antonia Stampalija

Ms A Stampalija
Antonia, well known as Toni, was born and educated in Perth. She comes from a diverse management background having worked across private, public and not-for-profit sectors. She operates her own management consultancy practice in Leederville specializing in strategic planning, change management, corporate governance and business coaching.
Toni was the recipient of the Catherine McAuley Women in Leadership Award in 2001. She has a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and is completing her MBA at the University of Western Australia. She has also undertaken an array of professional development programs including accredited mediation and arbitration, and safety practitioner courses.
Over the past ten years Toni has contributed significantly to the aged care industry by way of various Board, Council and Committee appointments including Director of Aged and Community Services WA; Council Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Health and Community Services Council; and Committee Member of Aged and Community Care Australia Industrial Relations Committee and Training and Education Committee. In addition, she has held numerous ex-officio appointments with Amana Living, McCusker Learning and Development and Anglican Homes Foundation Boards.
Toni’s most recent position has been with Amana Living as Director Corporate Services and Deputy CEO, and she largely contributed to the recent change in strategic direction. Her role involved leading a diverse senior management team that included finance, IT, human resources, public relations and fundraising, administration, and property professionals. During her time at Amana Living Toni also held the position of Director Caring Services and was responsible for overseeing 16 residential aged care facilities and 19 retirement villages. Toni enjoys spending time with her two daughters, reading biographies, keeping fit and entertaining. |

Ian Petkoff

Mr I Petkoff, AM, MPA, Grad Dip BA, Grad Dip Mngt
Ian joined the RAAF in 1975, graduating on No 49 Navigators’ Course at East Sale in 1976. He was posted to 11 Squadron flying in P-3B Orion Aircraft and then to 10 Squadron for the initial P-3C Orion delivery.
Over the next 30 years Ian served in Britain, USA, Defence Headquarters Canberra, Townsville as OC of 323 Air Base Wing and then as OC Combat Support Wing and Base Commander. He then undertook Korean language training at RAAF Williams, was promoted to Group Captain and from 2001 to 2004 served as Defence Attaché to the Republic of Korea. He was then posted to WA as Commanding Officer Combat Support Unit Pearce. Ian transferred to the RAAF Reserve in December 2006.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Graduate Diplomas in Business Administration and Management. He is married to Fiona and they have one son. |

Paul Sadleir

Mr P S Sadleir, MBA, BE, FAICD
Paul joined Cedar Woods as Chief Executive Officer in July 2000, and has focussed on expanding the Company's property portfolio and range of activities from residential land subdivision into medium and high density residential and industrial developments. Cedar Woods now has offices in Perth and Melbourne, with 15 projects underway.
The company has a disciplined management approach, with a Corporate Plan that drives all of the company’s activities. As Managing Director, Paul’s responsibilities cover strategic planning, portfolio management, acquisition analysis, equity and finance raising and investor relations.
Prior to joining Cedar Woods, Paul was responsible for the establishment of the Bunnings Warehouse Property Trust which successfully listed on the ASX in 1998. Between 1994 and 1997 Paul worked with Wesfarmers Limited in the areas of corporate planning and acquisitions and divestments.
Paul has a Master of Business Administration Degree and Bachelor of Engineering Degree, both from the University of Western Australia, and is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Directors.
Paul has served on various industry bodies, including as a Councillor for the Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Property Education Foundation. |

Ron Pease

Mr R Pease, JP
Ron has been a member of the RAAF Reserve for 40 years. He currently works as a Defence Recruiter in the Australian Defence Force Recruiting Centre Perth for three days a week and at 25 SQN RAAF Base Pearce as Squadron Warrant Officer on duty weekends and annual camps.
Ron has been heavily involved with various communities in the Perth Central Business District and the metropolitan area whilst employed by WA Police, City of Stirling, Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia.
Ron is a member of the Australian Institute of Management, Parks and Leisure Australia (four years as State President), Royal Australian Society of Justices WA, Occupation Health Society of WA, the Returned and Services League of Australia and other organisations involved in horticulture, landscaping and environment management. Ron is a Justice of the Peace.
Ron and his wife Robyn have two children and reside in Safety Bay. |

Bob Richards

Mr R K Richards
Bob Richards and his wife Mary have been members of RAAFA since 1999 and have lived on the RAAFA Estate Meadow Springs since 2000.
Bob joined the RAAF in 1951 as an Aircraft Apprentice. After training as an Instrument Fitter at Forest Hill near Wagga Wagga, he served at a number of RAAF bases in Australia and at Butterworth in Malaysia.
After discharge from the RAAF in November 1974 and completion of a Diploma of Recreation, he worked for the Western Australian Department of Corrective Services as a Recreation Coordinator at Fremantle and Casuarina Prisons until retirement in 1994.
Bob previously served on Division Council 2000-2003 and is an active supporter of the AFA Club at Meadow Springs and a volunteer bus driver. He aims to improve the participation of RAAFA members in Division activities through inclusion and communication.
