WA's Airlines
It would be an exaggeration to say that the history of aviation in WA - particularly its
early history - was entirely the history of its airlines. But the three major airlines which
commenced operation between World War I and II were inextricably linked with
the vast majority of developments. Apart from establishing a new form of mass transport,
they helped with pilot training, were the
main purpose (and often the main organisers) of new aerodromes across
the state, and promoted public interest in the new industry.
