The Engine On Display
The display engine, and O-470K rated at 225 HP, was built from spare parts obtained
from the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Bernie's Aviation.
Type History
The O-470 is one of the numerically most important engines in today's light aircraft. In
particular, it has powered many of the models in the Cessna and Beech ranges since the 1950s.
Through its development - which still continues - its power has been increased from 165 to 240
HP through a number of engineering refinements, and a fuel injected version, the IO-470,
delivers up to 260 HP.
