THE COCKPITS
The major airliners that MMA used between from the late 1940s to the 1980s were medium twin engine airliners and their cockpits were similar in basic configuration. There were two pilots, the Captain sat on the left and the First Officer on the right. Both had similar main instruments in front of them and the engine instruments and controls between them. The fundamental organisation of instruments and controls changed very little from the DC-3 cockpit of the mid 1930s to the F-28 cockpit of the 1970s.
