Taking the RAAFA Spitfire Down |
The RAAF Associations Spitfire Mk.22 was removed from the pylon outside Air Force Memorial House in Adelaide Terrace, Perth, on 18 July 1970.

The first stage was releasing the airscrew, which was then lowered to the
ground.

A brave soul climbed up on a ladder to release the tail wheel cover and lower the tail wheel.

Slings were attached to the Spitfire and the crane took up its weight.

The Spitfire was lifted clear of the pylon

The Spitfire was lowered to the ground and the engine cowlings and other parts were removed.
The Spitfire was lifted on to the semi-trailer
