The Andrew Russell Veteran Living Appeal Awarded Best Community Engagement

RAAFA has been recognised by the Property Council of Australia for ‘Best Community Engagement’ for the Andrew Russell Veteran Living (ARVL) Appeal at the WA Property Council Awards 2024.

After risking their lives in active service and peacekeeping, veterans often face the daunting task of transitioning to civilian life. For many, this abrupt change can be overwhelming and for some it may be the first time that they are living independently.

Exacerbated by high levels of stress and the current cost of living and housing crisis, veterans are disproportionately vulnerable to homelessness, facing a risk three times that of the general population.

With our heritage firmly rooted in supporting Australian ex-servicemen and women, RAAFA called on the community to join forces to help us end veteran homelessness.

On 9 February 2024, RAAFA headed out to the streets of Perth to engage with the local community, and we are proud to be recognised for raising awareness about this critical issue.

“The winners have all demonstrated their exceptional ability to deliver projects and programs that are loved by West Australians all across the state”, Property Council WA Executive Director Nicola Brischetto said.

ARVL WA will provide purpose-built crisis accommodation and essential wraparound support services for veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. To learn more about the program and donate visit www.arvlwa.com.au.
